Cloud Pipeline
Solution Overview
EPAM Cloud Pipeline is a cloud-based environment that provides the ability to build and run the customized scripts and workflows that support genomics analysis, modeling and simulation. As genomic data analysis software it relies on machine learning activities that are required to accelerate patient treatment, clinical trials and drug discovery research.
This genomic analysis software wraps cloud computing and storage resources into a single service, providing an easy and scalable approach to accomplish a wide range of scientific tasks. The main features include:
-
Data processing: Create data processing pipelines (workflow scripts) and run them in the cloud
-
Data storage management: Store and manage files
-
Tools management: Create and deploy shared and personal computation environments using Docker’s container concept
-
Scientific computing GUI applications: Launch and run GUI-based applications using a self-service web interface
Cloud Pipeline is compatible with AWS, Azure and GCP.
Benefits
Democratizing the Cloud
Non-IT-savvy scientists can flexibly build and run pipelines/models in the cloud
Scalability
Pipeline instances are created on-demand — auto-scaled clusters are supported
Extensibility
Powerful API allows external systems to leverage Cloud Pipeline’s components
Minimize Vendor Lock-in Risks
Cloud-independent architecture supports any single cloud and multiple clouds

Use Cases
Clinical Trial
Customer Problem:
A clinical trial sponsor faces challenges managing and analyzing vast amounts of clinical trial data. Their current system is:
- Inefficient: Data from various sources (hospitals, clinics, wearables) is siloed and requires manual integration.
- Time-consuming: Without proper genomics software, data cleaning and analysis are slow, delaying trial progress and regulatory submissions.
- Error-prone: Manual data handling increases the risk of errors and inconsistencies.
Proposed Solution:
The sponsor decides to start using EPAM Cloud Pipeline, genomics data analysis software, to:
- Develop automated workflows for data ingestion, cleaning, and analysis from diverse sources.
- Leverage the cloud's scalability to handle large datasets efficiently.
- Integrate with existing clinical trial management systems (CTMS) for seamless data flow.
- Employ machine learning for advanced analytics and real-time patient monitoring.
Achieved Results:
- Streamlined data management: Automated workflows improve data quality and reduce manual effort.
- Faster analysis: Cloud resources accelerate data processing, allowing for quicker insights.
- Improved data accuracy: The genomic analysis software reduced manual intervention and minimized errors and inconsistencies.
- Real-time insights: Machine learning enables proactive monitoring and informed decision-making.
- Faster trial completion: Efficient data management and analysis shorten trial timelines.
