Epic Games: Crowd-Driven QA at Scale
As Fortnite’s user base surged from 1 million to over 350 million players, Epic Games needed to ensure each new season, feature and live event met the highest quality standards across platforms and devices. The scale and frequency of updates demanded a flexible, expert-driven testing solution.
To meet this challenge, EPAM’s Quality Engineering team assembled a custom test team of experienced Fortnite players and QA specialists from a global talent pool. The team provided end-to-end testing support — from authoring documentation to executing regression, feature and event testing, as well as bug reproduction and fix verification across PC and mobile platforms.
With EPAM’s crowd-powered approach, Epic Games gained the agility to test under real-world conditions, accelerate releases and ensure a consistent, high-quality player experience — even at massive global scale.
Brad’s Deals: Real Payment Testing
Brad’s Deals partnered with EPAM’s Quality Engineering team to solve critical QA challenges that were limiting their growth. As a fully remote team without access to an in-house device lab, they needed reliable, scalable testing to match the pace of agile development — without expanding internal headcount.
EPAM delivered a flexible, crowd-based solution with custom test teams available 24/7, full coverage of real mobile devices and production-like testing environments. This offloaded QA from developers, ensured broader coverage and supported faster releases with consistent quality.
Most importantly, EPAM’s real payment testing uncovered a key issue in Brad’s Deals’ purchase funnel that was causing inaccurate transaction attribution. Fixing this directly improved conversion rates, enhanced attribution accuracy for marketing and ultimately restored profitability — proving the strategic impact of expert-led QA at scale.
Gaming Without Borders
A leading game developer needed to release their title in 13 languages for over 80 million players—but faced major bottlenecks in localization testing. Sourcing qualified linguists, tracking translation quality and managing vendor workflows were all slowing down delivery and introducing risk.
EPAM stepped in to scale and streamline the entire localization QA process. In under three months, EPAM deployed over 30 specialists per language, built a knowledge transfer system and integrated new workflows with the client’s development pipeline. This enabled faster onboarding, real-time defect tracking and more efficient bug resolution.
As a result, EPAM helped identify and fix over 2,000 localization defects and more than 300 additional functional issues, while establishing full transparency and performance visibility across teams. The result: improved translation quality, accelerated delivery and a globally ready game experience.
