Objectives and Goals
The client sought to migrate their UK Analytics platform to Azure Cloud to modernize their data ecosystem and reduce reliance on legacy technologies. Their infrastructure included DB2, Informatica, Microstrategy, SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS. The goal was to transition to a scalable, cloud-based solution while maintaining analytics capabilities and minimizing business disruption.
How We Delivered
Using migVisor tools, we conducted an in-depth assessment to define and streamline the migration scope, which included 150 Informatica workflows, 1,200 SQL procedures, 1,000 DB2 tables, and over 2,000 Microstrategy reports. Instead of directly migrating all reports, we implemented a Self-Service Analytics framework, redesigning Microstrategy reports and Informatica ETL processes into Data Products using migVisor's data lineage mappings. MigVisor tools also enabled impact analysis and dependency mapping for smarter transformation decisions. Informatica workflows were converted to Python and Snowflake SQL, while the DB2 data warehouse and OLAP cubes migrated into Snowflake as tables and views.

Supply Chain Data Platform Modernization
Objectives and Goals
The client aimed to modernize their Supply Chain planning platform by moving away from an Exadata-based backend and upgrading their data warehouse. The goals included aligning with broader business initiatives, evaluating the benefits of a modern platform, reducing long-term costs, and defining a clear migration strategy. The existing system contained 11 databases, over 6,600 Exadata objects, more than 5,000 tables and views, 490 stored procedures, 1,657 Informatica ETL flows, 280 jobs, and 9.3 TB of historical data, illustrating the scale and complexity of the migration.
How We Delivered
In collaboration with Databricks and Microsoft, EPAM developed a customized migration strategy using the migVisor Suite. We thoroughly scanned all Exadata assets — comprising tables, procedures, ETL flows, and jobs to understand structure, assess complexity, and identify dependencies. Based on the outputs, we designed and delivered a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) on Azure Databricks, successfully migrating 9.3 TB of historical data and validating the new architecture with real workloads.
Automation and Optimization Highlights
By utilizing migVisor, we significantly reduced manual effort and enhanced planning accuracy. The platform scanned over 6,600 database objects, 1,657 ETL flows, and hundreds of dependent jobs to identify complexity and interdependencies. With this, we prioritized workloads and created a focused migration plan. The team proposed a unified Databricks Data Warehouse and outlined an 18-month strategy targeting 60% of Exadata objects and 33% of ETL flows. Additionally, migVisor helped estimate effort and costs, ensuring transparency and predictability throughout the process.

The client sought to transition their data platform from Exasol to AWS to enhance performance, scalability, and integration with modern cloud services.
