How are open source parts of Syndicate integrated with the licensed parts? Can they be used separately?

If one of the open-source parts of Syndicate can solve development issues, feel free to use, modify and improve it in any required way. Syndicate is under Apache License 2.0. It is integrated using the Syndicate API so that any tool can be integrated.
