API & Integration Migration Accelerator
Solution Overview
Leaving a legacy API management and integration platform requires more than a migration roadmap. The estate itself has to be converted: API definitions, gateway policies, consumer access configurations and the integration applications behind them.
EPAM API & Integration Migration Accelerator combines an Al-assisted conversion engine with an engineering-led migration factory. For a Kong-based target architecture, it supports two coordinated tracks.
Gateway migration converts API definitions, policies and consumer access configurations for Kong Gateway or Konnect. Integration modernization converts the applications and integration logic behind those APIs for the cloud-native target runtime.
The deliverable is converted, tested implementation assets, not a sequence of migration activities.
Customer Problem
-
A migration roadmap doesn't move traffic. Every asset in the estate still has to be converted for the target gateway and runtime before anything runs.
-
Manual conversion is slow, and the timeline grows with the size of the estate.
-
Manual conversion is expensive, because the work is repetitive and engineering-heavy.
-
Consistency is hard to hold across a large estate when each asset is converted by hand.
-
Gateway assets and the integration applications behind them have to land on the target platform together to deliver working interfaces.
EPAM Solution
The accelerator reads source configurations and code, then drafts the corresponding target assets. AI performs much of the initial translation. Engineers review, test and harden the output before it's accepted.
The estate is organized into batches based on business flow, dependencies and operational risk. Each batch is converted, tested and cut over before the next begins. The batching determines the safest order of migration. The accelerator performs the conversion.
Where to start. Begin with a small batch of low-complexity APIs or proxies with limited dependencies. Convert them, test them and run tramc through the new Kong environment. Then use the same factory and dependency sequence to migrate the applications and integrations behind them.
The proof is working tramc on the target platform, not another migration plan.
Key Differentiators
AI assisted conversion, engineer verified output
AI drafts the target assets. Engineers review, test and harden them before anything is accepted.
Gateway and integration converted together
One factory handles Kong gateway assets and the integration applications behind them.
Dependency-based migration batches
Batching follows business flow, dependencies and operational risk, so the safest sequence runs first.
Benefits
Converted assets, not a migration plan
Tested Kong configurations, code and cutover evidence.
Lower conversion cost
AI drafts target assets instead of hand-converting each one.
Consistency across a large estate
One conversion engine applies the same logic to every asset.
Controlled cutover risk
Each batch is converted, tested and cut over before the next begins.
Features
Depending on scope, the accelerator delivers:
- Kong Gateway or Konnect configurations, including gateway policies and consumer access
- Converted application code and integration flows for the cloud-native target runtime
- Automated test assets for each converted batch
- Source-to-target traceability across the estate
- Dependency-based migration batches, sequenced by business flow and operational risk
- Cutover and validation evidence for every batch that moves to the target platform
